This book was wonderful! I enjoyed it a lot, and I look forward to the next book!
Just from the cover, I suspected that I was in for a lush, wonderfully magical reading experience, and I feel this book delivered! The details of the setting, the food, and the tea ceremonies were so well done. I'm also a sucker for a plot that revolves around a competition, and this book did not disappoint!
The world building was so well done; it just felt so natural, like the author really took the time to flesh out every aspect of this world.
I thought that the characters were well done too. And not just the main characters (though Ning was a great character to follow); I thought the entire cast was really engaging!
I wish the romance element was a bit stronger, but I still enjoyed it overall.
But ugh, that cliffhanger ending! It was good, but now I have to wait for the next book and I'm impatient!
