So, this story made me hungry :) All those deliciously described foods...yum!

A Magic Steeped in Poison follows all the familiar plot lines we've come to love and expect from YA Fantasy; a deadly plot hidden behind a fierce competition, a royal family and a corrupt court, great side characters, and an underdog MC that might just be more powerful than we originally thought.

The story is rich and inviting. Behind this deadly tea competition there's almost a soothing quality when Ning works her tea magic. Those parts were my favorite! The more real-world aspects, the tea and medicine, seemed expertly woven into the magical side of it all making it easier to immerse myself into Ning's journey to save her sister. AND I so appreciated the glossary at the back of the book!

No real surprise, this book ends on a cliffhanger, BUT the second book is expected in August...so thankfully not long to wait as I need to know what happens!

Huge thank you Feiwel and Friends via BookishFirst for the early finished copy to read and honestly review!
