It's not you book, its me.

I tried with this one. I tried really hard. I wasn't feeling it so I put it aside for another book. Came back to it, still not feeling it, read something else. I should've DNF-ed this a week ago but its still sitting on my library audiobook shelf and after listening to 5% more tonight I just can't be bothered to finish this one, even so close to the end, I'm ready to move on.

The political aspect held no interest for me. It felt messy and unfinished. The romance in this is messy, if you can even call that romance (I really don't).

I think the tea making magic aspect could've been focused on a lot more - its TALKED about a lot, but we don't actually SEE it and when we do, its brief and such a letdown. I think the idea is super cool but was not executed well.

The audiobook narrator overall was fine, I have no complaints about her although I might've enjoyed this one more on the page rather than listening to it - so I wouldn't recommend listening unless you're listening and reading along.

Sigh. Another hyped up disappointing read. Don't get me wrong - I'm happy for the author and the Asian representation! This just isn't my type of book, I hoped it might be, but it wasn't for me.
