Ning is the one who brewed the tea that killed her mom and sickened her sister. She's not the one who poisoned it though. Ning gets a scroll that princess is having a competition of sorts. The winner gets to ask a favor of the princess. Ning sets off in the night to the capital. She wants to win so she can request the best doctors for her sister. One her way she spots someone who she believes is the one responsible for killing multiple people by poisoning tea. She gets angry and attack but the person gets away with the tainted tea.

This small preview was not enough to really get a good feel of the book. It did not really drag me in and get me invested in it. I will still be giving it a chance when it's published. I don't think it would be fair to judge it off of 3 or 4 chapters. The cover is beautiful and the concept of tea magic is new to me and intrigues me. There is potential for it to be a great book.
