A Magic Steeped in Poison is a magical with a unique story. It was a bit slow at first but the plot was interesting. The magic system in this book is so unique and was my favorite part of the story. There was magic built around the art of tea-making, something that I had never really considered. The old Chinese method of making tea has a certain charm to it that really pulls this story. It was fascinating to learn about traditional Chinese medicine as well as historical Chinese traditions including the preparation of tea.
This book is definitely one of the most gorgeous covers of all the books I read in 2022, and I was so happy to find out that the story inside was just as beautiful. Learning about Chinese mythology, and really all mythologies is so fun for me because I love the magic and stories of these cultures.
Overall, this was an amazingly-built fantasy story with lots of court politics, competition, and especially unique magic. While I'm not sure when I will be reading the final book in this duology, I am very excited to continue and see how this series ends.
