Besides the beautiful cover that looks like it could be a painting it’s the writing that drew me into this story. A girl struggling with immense guilt after the death of her mother due to her own actions or so she thinks. I love that right off the bat one of the themes of this story is the love between a daughter and her mother. You don’t really see that in too many stories especially YA another is the theme of tradition a mixture of magic and ritual she believes the tea she brewed led to her mother’s death. She believes she wasn’t strong enough nor gifted in the magic that is a part of the her her family’s culture. You could almost taste the tea while reading this story I would love to read more.
