The first chapters presented the current situation Zhang Ning is facing and I love the juxtaposition of mystery (surrounding the killer), fantasy (Shennong magic system), and the promise of competition (the one Ning will partake in the palace.)
Ning, as a main character, depicts a strong, flawed one and I'm all here for the humanized characters.
And of course, the cover. Who wouldn't fall in love with the covers of this duology?!
