Thrown into the action from the first sentence

I love being thrown in to the middle of a scene right away. I don't need build up. I'm riveted from the first word. As the main character packs to flee in the middle of the night, she reflects enough to give us the necessary background. Especially with fantasy novels, that can get bogged down in world-building, I much prefer this type of action-oriented beginning! Add to that tragedy, magic, and competition, and I am so in love with this book.
