The first several chapters of A Magic Steeped in Poison are an enjoyable read, and I'm sad to have had to stop due to the First Impression page limit.

Lin's prose is an excellent combination of lyrical and minimal; words aren't wasted in prose written for prose's sake, but the words chosen are clearly used with care, and highlight Lin's gift for lyricism. It makes for an immediacy in the narrative while still delivering beautiful lines that embody so much. I'm a sucker for this style of writing and I can't wait to read more.

The plot itself is also intriguing, and I was loving the use, description, and character of the tea and its purpose within the first two pages. I will eagerly put the kettle on and go through my array of teas whenever I get ahold of this book.
