An interesting start to an interesting world

I really enjoyed how quickly this story starts off. We meet the protagonist, learn about her losses, her struggles, her motivations, and she is almost immediately off on her adventure. Having read several tea-based fantasy books lately (Under the Whispering Door & A Psalm for the Wild-Built), it's so interesting to see how a similar-sounding premise can be done so differently. Very interested to find out what happens on this journey & with the upcoming competition.
