Lizzie, a lawyer, works an insane number of hours hoping to become a partner. One night, she receives a call from an old friend, Zach, and I have to say this might have been a good time for her to have been unavailable. You see, Zach is in jail and the police believe he is guilty of murder. Not just any murder, but the murder of his wife Amanda.
Lizzie is happy to recommend a criminal lawyer to Zach, but he wants no part of that plan. He begs Lizzie to defend him and considering that it is not her area of expertise, she should just say no, but she does not. With Zack's freedom at stake and Lizzie's belief in his innocence, she will do whatever it takes to uncover the truth. She will have to sift through deceptions, lies, and a long list of potential suspects before learning who killed Amanda.
It took me a while to get fully invested in this story, but once I did, I just kept flipping pages. There were so many twists and turns and all of my theories regarding whodunnit and why were wrong! Hands down, I prefer to figure out who the killer is myself based on the clues the author provides, but I don't mind losing to such a well written and intricate plot.
