A Good Marriage is one of the better suspense/mystery novels I've read in quite a while. The story starts out simple - Lizzie receives a phone call from an old classmate, Zach, wanting her to represent him in the event that he's charged with his wife Amanda's murder. But everything slowly becomes more complicated and intertwined as the story goes on. Zach may not be the person Lizzie remembers, Amanda's friends may have formed deeper attachments to her than expected, Amanda has a friend no one has ever seen and she's being stalked, the partner Lizzie is working for at her law firm is the ex-husband of the prosecuting attorney on Zach's case, and Lizzie's husband is an alcoholic that has gaps in his memory. Not to mention an investigation into the hacking of the database where Zach and Amanda's son went to school and a sex party the same night Amanda was murdered. Each one of these builds into a story subtly and expertly to make the book compelling - much more so than just for a murder alone.
