A Good Marriage is a legal thriller about a man who’s accused of killing his wife.

Zach Grayson is Lizzie’s law school classmate who calls her from Riker’s to ask her to defend him. Turns out his wife was murdered and he’s the main suspect.

This book is about the secrets we keep from our friends, spouses and even ourselves. Lizzie’s husband crashed his car while drunk and Lizzie neglects to mention it on her financial disclosure form for the new cushie lawyer gig she gets to try to pay down the money they jointly owe from the resulting lawsuit.

This book was terrific, with twists and turns galore. There’s a little bit of an unreliable narrator going on, though not in a serious way where nothing can be believed. She’s savvy when it comes to reading people and a very good lawyer. She’s not a criminal attorney but manages to catch up quickly while defending her friend, given her experience as a fraud prosecutor.

The ending is doubly creepy but somehow that makes it more satisfying when the creeps lose.
