This was a fantastic page turner of a read. It starts with a murder and late night phone call from Rikers. When Lizzie, a former prosecutor turned corporate lawyer, takes that call she finds herself representing the husband of the murdered woman.

As the plot progresses we find no one is as they seem, including Lizzie herself. Lizzie is very flawed, in a very human way. One of the most satisfying aspects of this novel lay in Lizzie’s ability to see her own flaws, slowly acknowledge all of the things that she had been closing her eyes to, and then finally start to set them right.

As Lizzie investigates the murder, hoping to exonerate her client, she uncovers mundane and extraordinary secrets and it all leads to a very satisfying end.
