A great thriller for a summer read. The novel focuses two women: Lizzie and Amanda. Amanda, who has a dark past and whose story is told through flashbacks, has been murdered. Lizzie is a successful lawyer in a high-powered law firm with a very complicated personal life, made more complicated because of her husband Sam, a writer who has an alcohol problem. Lizzie winds up representing a law school friend of hers, Zach, who had been arrested for assaulting a police officer and is accused of murdering Amanda, his wife. This is a real page-turner that has a well-developed (albeit somewhat convoluted plot, interesting characters, red herrings, and plenty of twists and turns! This is definitely a solid read.
