This story opens with a look into Lizzie's day at her law office as an associate, she receives a call from an old friend named Zach who is in prison and is asking her to take the case. His wife Amanda has been found dead and he has been charged with assaulting a police officer. There is also speculation that he is the murderer.

The perspectives on the story change from Lizzie to Amanda and then snippets of the grand jury testimony are added in. This book explores what makes "A Good Marriage", the secrets we keep, the omissions and the confidences held between spouses.

This story really hooked me in the beginning and I was constantly changing my mind as to whodunnit. I was left with the notion that there are so many secret sides people hide of themselves from even those closest to them.

If you enjoy books about law procedures and investigations then this book will be for you, it marries both slow burn suspense and legal strategies.
