A Good Marriage was a twisty legal thriller that kept me guessing throughout. The beginning of the book was a slow burn for me as I got to know Lizzie and Amanda, the two narrators. The story is told from each of their viewpoints in alternating chapters (on different timelines) and initially I found it a bit hard to keep track of not only who was narrating the chapter, but also the details of the storyline associated with each. In addition to narration from Lizzie and Amanda, snippets of grand jury testimony and confidential memos are scattered throughout. I really loved these additions as it felt like I was collecting evidence bit by bit as each new piece of information was presented.

As I got into the story further and got to know the characters better my initial confusion dissipated. Once all of the characters crystallized for me I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. As the story progressed I developed numerous theories about what was going on and what happened to Lizzie, and each time I thought I was onto something another event unfolded and proved me wrong. I was still trying to puzzle how all the various pieces came together right until the very end!
