The strength of this book for me was that it has many subplots that come together in a shocking but believable way. The author does an excellent job of unfolding each story at the correct pace to keep the read hooked. There is also lots of suspense, but then many things end up not as they seem. It is difficult to explain without spoilers, but some of the story lines are somewhat predictable which is satisfying as a reader, but then some things were completely shocking and unexpected, which keeps the pages turning.
Besides the suspense, and multiple engaging plot lines, the subplot of appearances of perfect families is always a hook for me, because is any family exactly as they appear to the outside world? This book will keep you up past your bedtime!
