This was definitely one of my favorite mystery novels of the year so far! McCreight knows how to keep the reader turning the pages to find out what happens, and even though this book clocks in right around 400 pages, it definitely doesn’t feel that long. A well crafted, multi layered story that shows how skilled McCreight is as a writer, and I need to check out her previous books for sure!
A quick rundown: we are following two alternating POVs throughout this book. We have Lizzie, a lawyer brand new to her firm who is contacted by an old colleague Zach when his wife Amanda (the other narrator) is murdered one night after a big party. I personally love books about rich people parties, and it almost reads as a whodunit type of story.
