I certainly enjoyed reading A Clash of Steel: A Treasure Island Remix by C.B. Lee. I had never read anything before C.B. Lee before this, but I will probably read her other works, because I really did enjoy this book. I would also like to point out that I have never read Treasure Island, the book A Clash of Steel is a remix of. I believe that A Clash of Steel will appeal to both people who have read Treasure Island and people who have not.
People who love the found family trope will certainly enjoy A Clash of Steel. Xiang, the narrator, bonds with the crew members, and it is evident that the crew members have been through thick and thin, and care for each other very much.
Though I enjoyed A Clash of Steel overall, I will say that the beginning of the book was very slow. I tend to prefer fast-paced books, so this was not a plus for me, but perhaps others will appreciate its tempo.
