As first while I was reading it, I had just been in a reading slump and so it was very hard for me to bring myself to read. I will admit, I was quite bored at the beginning but as the story went on, I got more and more into the stories and the character development.
I think the characters are crafted very well. Xiang really wants to please her mother and be good enough, though her mother doesn’t seem to genuinely care for Xiang much. Xiang and her mother’s relationship was set up very well and portrayed amazingly. And Xiang and Ahn are ADORABLE! I loved their relationship and seeing it grow!
I really liked the plot too. And pirate books always seem to fascinate me! This book actually describes some of the tasks they have to do, the things they have to do to keep their ship afloat and I feel like I never really knew what priorities pirates would have to have to survive! It was cool to learn more about that.
