When I was younger, my dad would occasionally bring home a “Great Illustrated Classic” book from, of all places, the grocery store. Now I’m questioning if that’s actually where he got them since I never saw that bin when I went with my parents or, later, ‘for’ my parents. I read every one my dad gave me, including Treasure Island, but I remember secretly thinking those books were mostly ‘for boys’ due to the mostly male cast. The female remix is great for girls who like adventure but also want characters they can see themselves in!
