This dystopian novel had me questioning society all the way through.

The human world has been decimated by a "slow plague" which is what they called the huge increase in autoimmune diseases that ravages the human population, eventually killing them off. It is interesting to read, as we are dealing with an increase of autoimmune diseases and a fight to find cures to the problem. As a solution to the problem a group of scientists create a whole new world of clones. These clones take over and change the way that humanity exists, creating their own rules, and eventually leading to their own destruction.

Throughout the novel we learn about one human. He was created in a lab like the clones but out of human cells. We learn the struggles he faced to be a part of a society of clones, and we witness his fight to free himself from his life of imprisonment. Meanwhile there is a bit of a love story mixed in, not only between him and one of the female clones, but also through clones who play the role of mom and dad for the human.

It was an intriguing book that took a look at a world where science went too far. A world in which survival has to adapt to fit a changing environment. And where a social experiment goes wrong.
