With the idea of cloning we probably think that it has all been done before and even done to death, but Your One and Only takes the trope into a whole new direction. Touching on everything from the science and social consequences and effects from widespread cloning methods and the emotional side effects as we follow the main characters (including “living fossil” Jack one of very few genetic, natural born humans) through his journey as a target of enemies and the half of a whole. Jack’s mere existence in this story brings up several questions about what a society of clones would result in. He is special in the sea of clones, but he is also a liability to the new world order. All humans are a liability at this point as we are the flawed imperfect ones and our clones the ideal persons. Jack is all of us in a future where clones are key. This story offered an interesting and exciting perspective and journey! I would definitely recommend!
