This was a non-fiction book and talked about how we are always thinking about our next comment/response rather than listening to those that we are talking with. I work in a professional setting and this is so true. Being short on time causes us to spill what we need to say quickly and not even listen to what others may say. We are looking to respond on the topic that the other is talking about and get our own thoughts in on the topic. Listening is a verb, not a noun and should be practiced. We are a society and generation that relies on social media, internet based information and are constantly bombarded with more and more. If we all took some mindful time and practiced listening to those around us or even listening to the quiet we would be a better, more mindful society.
