I’d like to start off by saying that I am not a nonfiction reader. As in, I might read 3/4 of a nonfiction book once every three years. But I so enjoyed this book!
True to its word, it was very funny. It was also insightful, made me misty eyed, and makes me want to get out in nature. Full of emotions far beyond just humor.
Dietrich has a way with words and made me feel like I wasn’t reading nonfiction. He weaves together history, the beauty of nature, and humor seamlessly while reminding us of important life lessons along the way.
Dietrich also has a gift for introducing to the people he met along the way. He made real people leap off the page.
Truly enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about taking a long bike ride. I found myself consistently reading bits and pieces to my family.
