This was such a wonderful read. I went into it not knowing much other than the preview, and I had never read any of the author's previous works; however, I have very quickly become a fan and will be looking for his other books to read. I appreciate the author's distinct, southern voice and his writing style, and he has a way of describing the journey and setbacks along his route in a way that continued to draw me in and keep me on the edge of my seat.
I love the way that he perfectly characterizes his relationship with his wife and how, throughout the book, more details of both their relationship and the author's childhood are revealed carefully and in a way that flows nicely with the rest of the story focused on the bike ride. I also appreciated the vivid descriptions of the surroundings and I often felt as if I was riding with them and could visualize the sights they saw.
