I have read several books about walking on one of the great trails in the world. Most of them are slogs, just as tiring, dangerous, and painful as the actual walk. Most of them convince me there is nothing short of having to flee my home that would make me undertake such a journey. This memoir is not one of those books. It's not because our trekkers are on bicycles instead of foot. It is more that it doesn't focus so much on the process as the feelings along the way.
She has cancer. During treatment she decides to do something big and has her husband promise to do it with her. Her big adventure was to transverse the Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Canal Towpath. Both had been paved so our couple could ride bikes.
The book is charming and funny. I laughed several times while reading it. I still won't take a long walk, but following their adventures was nice and relaxing.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher by a website contest in exchange for a honest review.
