I rarely give a book 5 stars, but this book deserves it. The story is about a man who reluctantly goes on a two part, 300+ mile bike trip with his wife. From before the trip to the very end, I laughed out loud. Many of his fears and issues are easy to identify with. I would NOT want to massive amounts of beef sticks or camp anywhere near snakes or ride through pouring rain. He does all of that , and much more, and recounts his adventures with humor.

While I enjoyed the crazy situations the author gets in, the part I enjoyed the most were his interactions with people along the road. He travels with his wife, but he also meets other bikers and hikers. It is these interactions that give the heart and inspire me to live life more fully.

Note: This book was promoted as a book in the “Christian Living” genre, but I didn’t find it to be very religious. God, Jesus, and religion are mentioned a few times, but they are mentioned in more of a questioning fashion. This book does not try to convert you and does not get preachy.
