I know the year just started and it’s too soon to say, but Woven in Moonlight is one of my favorite books out this year! This was everything I like in a book, from a fierce main character to a slow burn hate to love romance, along with magic, political intrigue and everything in between. And that cover! I’ve been following the author of this book on twitter for some time and did you know that she designed her own cover? It’s absolutely beautiful.

I really liked Ximena from the very beginning. You can see that she cares about her people and what’s happening to them. She was fierce and strong. She also has the ability to weave thread from moonlight, which was both captivating and magical at the same time.

I also liked how well written it was. Once I started, I couldn’t seem to put the book down. The writing was rich and Ximena’s narrative was easy to follow. I could see what she was saying and feel what she feeling, from the anger and injustices of her people to everything in her surroundings.

And the romance! It was a slow burn romance that will have you wanting to yell at the characters (in a good way). It was also a hate to love relationship that adds some excitement and intrigue to the whole thing. By the end, I was pulling my hair out because I was so invested both in the romance and the story line.

There’s also a bit of mystery, and political intrigue that will leave you hungry for more. The world is inspired by bolivia and it was rich and colorful and beautiful.

Do you ever see a book and you immediately know you’re going to love it after reading the plot? This was one of them. It had everything I look for in a book and I cannot stop raving about it. It was magical and fun, it was beautifully written with a slow burn romance that had me yelling at the characters (in a good way!). Oh, and to sweeten the deal, it had delicious food that will leave you hungry for more (pun intended!)
