Came for the cover, stayed for the magic sloth. Isabel Ibañez's Woven in Moonlight, is a lush YA fantasy novel that stems from Bolivian politics and history. Xiemena has the power to weave moonlight into tapestries of wool, and sometimes they come to life. But she is also the stand in to the royal Condesa. When the Atoc comes to take Condesa's hand in marriage, Ximena is quickly pushed into her place. Did I mention there was a magic sloth,

Ibañez's novel is refreshing with it's magic system and world building. And the characters are absolutely perfect. But the plot is a little lack luster. As much as I want more from this world, I'm pretty sure I'm good with all we currently have. Especially when the last ten questions come into the discussion. We don't talk about the last 10 chapters, no no no.

Though there is plenty of controversy around this book, it can still be read for the magic (sloth).
