Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibanez is a magical story inspired by Bolivian culture and history. It follows Ximena, whose job is being the decoy Condesa. The Illustrians had lost everything when Atoc used a relic to drive her people off their land, so when Ximena has an opportunity to infiltrate the Llacsan's lands she is ready for revenge.
This story was such an enjoyable read. I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. It was a unique and well-written story. I loved reading about Ximena's journey and how it unfolded. The descriptions about the culture (especially about the food and clothing) and magic helped with the world-building.
Woven in Moonlight was an impressive debut from Isabel Ibanez and I cannot wait to read Written in Starlight, the companion novel. 2021 couldn't come any sooner!
