First of all, I loved the cover art (which was designed by the author herself) and must admit that that was what drew me to the book most! But I am happy to report that the story held up and I was quickly absorbed into the story of Ximena, the decoy contessa, and her mission to save her people. There’s a lot more to this fast-paced fantasy than covert missions. There’s a lot being said about prejudice and preconceptions that is worth mentioning due to the timeliness of such issues.
The writing is beautiful and the story is well plotted. The cast of characters are fully developed and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep me hooked throughout. It was hard to put this book down at all! I strongly recommend this read!
