While it took me a little bit of time to figure out who was who, I found the world-building to be well done and unique in the current cannon as a book focused on a person of color and a part of the world that is often not considered as frequently. From the preview I received, it appears to be a type of fantasy novel that would appeal to anyone who appreciates that genre in YA.
Combined with the synopsis I've read of the book, it seems that there will be a complex plot with a complicated choice for the main character who will have to decide whether to betray the person she loves most, who is also her queen and grew with her as if they were sisters. Identity already seems to be a strong theme and I hope to finish this book in its entirety when it is released in the coming weeks.
