This is suppose to be a book filled with magic, romance, and a revolution all drawing inspiration from Bolivian history and politics. Unfortunately the execution of this concept was not well done. The magic is never explained and seemed like it was only written in when convenient for the main character to get out of tricky situations. The romance was very lacking, at first I thought it would be a slow burn romance but it wasn’t. It felt rushed and as if it came out of nowhere in the end. After reading the entire book I was disappointed by the lack of information when it came to important moments and characters. I have to say that I don’t see how this was inspired by Bolivian politics, even after reading the book I wouldn’t be able to tell you anything about their history or politics. I was just very disappointed in the end because I had high expectations.
