A vivid story of adventure, love, and magic. A classic tale of two dueling sides, right and wrong, and the struggle for power. Ibanez does a great job creating an interesting type of magic—one powered by the moon that manifests itself differently in everyone. If you’re looking for a charming, magical adventure, Woven in Moonlight is the way to go (I mean, look how amazing the cover is alone!)
Overall, I think this is a great fantasy debut by Isabel Ibanez. She is able to strike a good balance between a lighthearted tale and a story of hope and war. The main character, Ximena, is developed perfectly and easy to side/agree with—she’s faced with a multitude of tough decisions but you always know she’ll end up making the right one. I mostly loved the cast of animals that make their way into the story about halfway through. I can picture them so vividly as I read about them!
