Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibanez tells the story of a decimated culture and those fighting to survive. This story opens to a discovery of diminishing rations for the Illustrians. Ten years prior, a battle was fought against a rumored false ruler who forced the Illustrains into refuge in the mountains. The main character, who is trying her best at guiding her people, is actually a decoy for the true ruler her friend, Catalina. In addition to the political intrigue we also get a glimpse into the magical abilities the Illustrians hold, abilities tied to the moonlight. Ximena has the ability to turn moonlight into thread, which she incorporates into her hand-woven tapestries.

The cover, illustrated by the author, has a beautiful color scheme and I thought it was beautiful! I am looking forward to reading more of this fascinating and beautifully written story.
