First, I loved the cover of this one so much (God, it’s gorgeous) that I used my bookish first points to ensure I received a copy of it. Once I had it in my grasp, I couldn’t wait to break it open and see what was waiting for me. This book REALLY lives up to its name - WILD!!! Everything about this book was brilliant. The characters, the symbolism, the story, the Tox! Holy crap!!
This book doesn’t even pretend to be a typical book about a girls’ school. It opens up talking about girls shooting guns, crazy wild animals on the island, and this disease or phenomenon taking over everyone and everything on the island. What it does to these girls is horrible, unimaginable, and down right terrifying! But they behave as if they are normal and they are just trying to get through life like any other girl would. I think that, and the power of friendship are what I loved about this novel the most.
I will read anything Rory Power writes! I can only hope and cross my fingers that this is just the beginning of a series - and it NEEDS to be a movie! I miss the girls, already!
