On an isolated island, a population made up of pupils at a former girls' school and their teachers, must deal with a malevolent disease known as Tox. It ravages each body differently, and from the preview pages, it seems that this disease affects each mind differently as well. Is it the unbearable pain that seems to be making each girl violent, and why are the animals on this island affected as well? How long can the outside world keep them isolated? But even more interesting is the unanswered question of whether or not the outside world is really uninfected. There seem to be some "normal" social and interpersonal relationship issues that are woven into the drama of the disease, and the preview pages might or might not be interesting enough to make a reader continue reading in order to know how this situation could possibly ever be resolved. That Sometimes regular school life feels this way as well. Hmmmm, there might be some good discussion topics here for mature students; however, the preview pages are not enough for me to determine what age/grade level restrictions there might need to be. I am not sure I would finish reading this book and will be interested to see what other readers think.
