I've heard a lot of mixed reviews regarding Wilder Girls since its release and before it was published. Some people love it, and some people hate it. I found myself right smack dab in the middle of loving it and hating it.

We follow Hetty, Byatt, and Reese in an all girls school setting after a disease (the Tox) runs rampant across their island school set in Maine. While I really enjoyed getting to know the characters throughout the novel, I was left with a lot of questions on what the author was trying to convey through her writing.

The setting is extremely atmospheric, and at times it was horrifying as well as gruesome in details. The writing itself was problematic for me, as there were many sentence fragments and what felt like ramblings in the story.

I enjoyed reading this, but I was left with an underwhelming feeling and too many unanswered questions. I honestly didn't understand what the author was trying to say to her readers and was ultimately left feeling rather confused about what exactly happened and why it happened the way that it did.
