This was one of my most hyped books of this year. Sci-fi, horror, queerness. Seriously, had everything that I might want in it.
Yet, then I started reading it. The world barely felt explained for me -- or not fleshed out as much as I would have liked it to be. The characters never stood out from the page -- I could barely keep them straight and there were, like, three main characters. I wasn't freaked out. There was nothing holding me to stick with the book, so I decided to quit while I was ahead.
In the end, not for me!
