In Wilder Girls, written by Rory Power, the Tox has hit the Raxter School for Girls and placed them under a strict quarantine. First the teachers died, then, the girls began to change. Now, it is too dangerous to wonder beyond the school’s fence. No one knows what’s lurking on the rest of the island. But, when Hetty’s best friend Byatt goes missing, she knows she will do anything to get her back, even if it means breaking the quarantine. Soon, Hetty realizes that there’s more to what’s going on than meets the eye and some people are keeping a lot of secrets.

There was so much hype surrounding this book and I was so excited to finally get it from my library. Sadly, I was left disappointed with this book. I didn’t find myself liking any of the characters in the story. No one was really given a good back story and little time was spent on developing these characters in general. Also, there were several times throughout the novel where there were fragmented sentences, which I know were probably being used for dramatic effect, but were irritating to me as a reader.

I know a lot of other people enjoyed this book, but this just wasn’t one for me. I found it surprising that a story with such a strong synopsis was lacking so much for me. The only saving grace for me was the idea behind the story. I loved the whole concept, I just didn't think it got executed in a way that was for me.
