After having consumed The Grace Year by Kim Liggett I was guided to Rory Power's Wilder Girls. Can we please have more and more feminist retellings of classics?

"Byatt, Hetty and Reese are selfish and messy, and complicated, just as boys and men are allowed to be in their stories--just as they are in Lord of the Flies." - Rory Power

A thousand times yes! The main characters in this novel are flawed. At first it is startling and, for me, a bit difficult to attach to, but as I read I more & more, I began to cheer for them.

My main gripe is the ending, or perhaps the lack of one. The optimist in me wants to create a happy ending. But the realist created throughout the novel, as the optimist was torn apart, leads me to believe it isn't a happy ending. Especially when all internet chatter seems to indicate there is not a follow up to this novel.

Beautiful read, fast paced & enthralling.

And speaking of beautiful, can we get Aykut Aydogdu to do more book covers?
