I really liked the premise but the story itself was lacking too much in character connections and horror aspects to keep my interest. The characters were hollow and their wasn't much character development. The characters on the last page are the same characters I didn't care about on the first.
If the book was more focused on the action and less pointless drama in Hetty's Pov I think I would have liked it more. Byatt's POV is a good blend of this. Her POV was gripping, had body horror scenes that made me gag, and felt claustrophobic. While Hetty's POVs were filled with pointless drama and a romance that I didn't care about. Reese (aka Rapunzel) and Hetty running around trying to sort out their feelings for each other while a deadly disease is roaming around took me out of the atmosphere completely.
