This was interesting to say the least. The story was fast paced and intriguing. I didn’t want to stop listening to the audiobook, but I didn’t understand what was going on at points. Especially the ending that happened way too fast. I have no idea what happened there. I even re-listened to the end a couple times and I was still confused. There could have been more. Maybe even made the book a few chapters longer.
I’m all for romance but the romance in this didn’t work for me. I couldn’t feel a connection between the characters. It seemed forced.
My favorite parts of the story were Byatt’s sections. There were only a few of them but the ones that were there I loved so much. The narrator on the audiobook really put me in Byatt’s shoes and I could feel her fear all the way to my core.
