There is an outbreak of what is known as ‘Tox” at the Raxter School for Girls. The school is quarantined and the students and teachers are not allowed to leave until a cure is found. Hetty and her friends have all experienced bouts with the outbreak. Each outbreak seems to be worse than the last. The girls are all fearful of who is not going to survive or if it will be them. They are tought shooting skills for whatever wild animal that they may need to kill. Their food is brought in from the outside but it is rationed along with other supplies. I found the story line very interesting but it is hard to envision such awful things that these girls go through!
