(I actually didn't receive my copy of this book yet-- but I was approved for the book on Netgalley so naturally... I had to devour it immediately! I'm so excited to own my physical copy!)
The first thing I want to say is: that ending was NOT enough for me and I need a sequel asap. Please, Scholastic. Please.
Rory has crafted a brilliant, breathtaking story. The pacing wasn't as fast as I would have liked, but she also managed to craft layers of terror upon terror as more freakish and life-altering incidents kept on occurring to the main characters-- I was absolutely terrified when I read this.
Wilder Girls features both Hetty and Byatt, two characters who have been trapped and quarantined within this dangerous and scary place. Hetty shortly becomes on of the strongest girls-- a Boat Girl, who are the ones assigned to go outside and face the wild. When Byatt disappears, Hetty sets off on a venture to find out where Byatt is and what happened to her.
This novel is just awe-inspiring and terrible at the same time; I had literal chills down to my core. Thank you so much to Bookishfirst for providing me with a copy of this book.
