Look I wanted to love this book, but it just wasn't there for me. I'm really thankful I got this from the library and didn't waste my money on it. The cover is gorgeous and the idea is unique, but it fell short for me. I heard it compared to "Lord of the Flies" and I was all for it, but I didn't really get the "Lord of the Flies" vibes. First off we have two adults with the kids this whole time, Welch (A teacher) and Headmistress. I guess the lesson is that people are ruthless and animalistic. The girls bodies are mutating and changing from the Tox that has taken over the island where their boarding school is located. I liked Hatty as a character just fine. She was loyal to her friends and fought hard to save them. I just felt like things were a bit unrealistic between her and Reece. My biggest complaint of all though is that the book feels in complete. Is there going to be a sequel? I haven't seen anything indicating that there will be, so that lingering ending where I have so many more questions is hard to forgive in there isn't a follow up.
