I heard many people comparing this to Lord of the Flies, and while I can see the similarities, it's mostly just the fact that it's teens stuck on an island in isolation forced to survive. I read Lord of the Flies for school, and while I liked it this was way better.

I love the slightly supernatural/spectacle aspect of the mutative virus in Wilder Girls, and it has the perfect amount of body horror which is a genre I oddly adore. I am also always a sucker for a sapphic and queer book, which this book absolutely included! If you're expecting a super romance heavy book, this is not it. The romance is super slow and it's very much a b-plot (or even c-plot). The ending might be unstatisfying for some, so if you like things to wrap up all nicely in a bow, this book will probably disappoint you.

Overall, I loved this book and I'm going to check out Rory Power's future books!
