When the Raxter School for Girls is placed under a quarantine, Hetty and her classmates replace their traditional studies with a focus on surviving the unthinkable. Since the Tox began to sicken the girls, killing young and old alike, changing their bodies in grotesque, monstrous ways, the survivors continually struggle to push forward, co-exist, and overcome their hell until a cure is found.

Right out of the gates, the unique exposition of Power's novel grabs the reader's attention and leaves them craving more. The premise is one that is so unusual, yet it offers believable elements and realistic themes, such as companionship vs isolation and the coming of age. Likewise, the language is descriptive, effectively painting Hetty's world and plight without being too flowery or wordy.

I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!
